type='text'>We're all guilty of it...

How do you determine who is a spy, and who isn't? Well... you have to spy on people. One person says one thing, one person says another. They both have evidence against eachother. Who is right? Who is wrong? It's been said that if you stand in the middle of the road, you get knocked down by traffic from both sides. But I've come to learn that this is a bit faulty. Because it doesn't matter where you stand. You're going to get knocked down either way.

I suppose then, the test of it all comes down to whether or not you choose to get back up.

I recently made a choice of which side of the road I was going to stand on. It was a choice that needed to be made for the betterment of E Pluribus Neo. Apparently, some aren't too happy about it.

Subterfuge and mendacity are evil things. I can understand not trusting your enemies. Why would you? But when you can't even trust the people you care about, what does that say about the world we are living in? Everyone is pointing fingers at everyone else. Nobody is to blame, but everyone is at fault. How can we expect to make progress with this mentality?

Lies, ruse, spying. What's the point in blaming eachother when we're all guilty of it?

I have to admit...

Westview does have a certain charm to it.

To find what is missing...

An oddity.
An abnormality.
An anomaly.
With flying fists and crunching kicks.
Do not trust automatous fabrications.
Hand back our savior, or risk our fury.

This is your warning.

Perception...

Perception is more than what is there. Perception is also what is absent, or missing.

The mind is such a powerful thing. I've been reading a lot lately on the subject of psychology. Psychology is the study of mental processes. How the mind reacts to different situations and stimuli. It got me thinking about the matrix, and all those bluepills still plugged in. I think I've forgotten what that's like. To not know the truth. My perception of my world has completely changed. Now that I know the truth, I can't help but notice all of the strange quirks that make it painfully obvious that the matrix isn't real. The matrix has everything that we expect to see, but what's missing is the warmth. The matrix is a product of cold hard logic. It lacks compassion and common sense.

Neo. The One. He provided for the matrix what it was lacking. It was probably a bigger attack against the system than anyone else has brought through force. Everything he did was for the protection and survival of humanity. He faced the adversity of causality and control, and introduced compassion and understanding. In the end, we survived in exchange for his loss. I hate to think that so many people are forgetting this.

Now that he's gone, the matrix has changed. Our perception of the matrix has changed. It's causing us to act differently, to talk differently, to think differently. The perception of an absence is obvisouly a very powerful weapon.

Sometimes our perception is affected by what is not perceivable. We can walk into a bar, or talk to a friend, or read a journal entry, and immediately perceive our surroundings. But sometimes it's what is missing that requires our undivided attention.

How can we be aware of what isn't there? I guess we have to know what it is we expect to perceive.

Lame tricks...

Apparently Cryptos can't get enough of himself, he has to go and make everyone look like him. Micheal has given me some time off this weekend and so far it's been really nice. Jacking into the matrix is peanuts compared to the experience of falling far and fast into a good book.

I coded this construct myself, so it's not very impressive compared to others that I've seen. But I can't tell you how closely I hold it to my heart. It consists of this one bookshelf, and a big red leather chair off to the side. You'll notice there really aren't that many books on the shelf. At least, not enough to satisfy my reading hungers. I never really was all that good at coding, so I found a way around hard-coding tons of books into the construct itself. Every so often when I'm in the matrix, I'll run to a library and copy the code structure of a few books and upload them to my ship. I then sort the code structures into a database that is linked to the Library construct. This is where the cool part comes in...

The books in the Library construct are initially blank. No words, no titles, nothing in them. Before I jack in, I load up the particular book(s) that I want to read. The code structures for those books are pulled from the database, and imprinted onto the blank pages of the books in the construct. I can save which books I have loaded in case I want to return later to read the same book, or I can have the database pull titles at random. I'm really quite proud of it.

So this is where I'll be spending the next few days. Maybe I'll try my hand at coding a hot cup of tea.

So it begins

Zion has officially started working with the Merv and his cohort, The Effectuator.
